Emerging Leaders' Dialogues Asia (ELDA) is being organised in Malaysia between 20th October to 1st November 2016, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Princess Anne. Launched by the Commonwealth Study Conference Association of Malaysia (COSCAM) and Association of Emerging Leaders' Dialogue (AELD), the objective of this flagship initiative is to help identify, encourage and build leadership competencies. Themed, "Creating Globally Connected Leaders", ELDA 2016 will see participation of high-potential leaders from both emerging and developed economies, as well as engage them in meaningful discussions on challenges, systems and solutions. At the heart of ELDA 2016 is the fully sponsored one-week study tour to regions within Malaysia and abroad (India). During the study tours, participants will gain fresh insights on the best leadership practices in sustainable development.

Is ELDA 2016 relevant for me?
It is for you if you're a leader from a Commonwealth country, close to the peak of your career with a track record and aspiration for more. There should be a likelihood that you will lead your business, organisation, society or community in the near future.

What can I expect from my participation in ELDA 2016?
You get exposure to global leaders, world class thinking, innovative tools and an unparalleled experience from which you will walk away with broader horizons, new perspectives and skill set, plus a unique network of global peers.

What will the programme cost me?
The conference programme as well as the Study Tours will be fully sponsored and covered by ELDA Bursary. The applications, however, will be screened and approved for individual profile strength and the overall, fitment to attend, participate and contribute to ELDA 2016 agenda and objectives.

However, please note that you will have to arrange your own travel from your home country to Kuala Lumpur and back, any visa or travel insurance related costs and incidental costs (i.e. Laundry, Internet, Phone etc.)


Please refer to the following criteria to verify your eligibility:

You are between 30 and 45 years of age, and fluent in English

You have more than five years experience in Senior Management / Leadership positions

You are able to secure permission from your employer to be away from work for a period of two weeks

Your organisation will approve your representation for the Study tour (ELDA 2016)

You have the financial resources to cover the cost of your travel to Kuala Lumpur and back

You meet all visa / immigration / entree requirements should you be selected for the Study tour

You agree to share your personal and contact information, and any other information related to your experience / organisation with your fellow delegates / participants at ELDA 2016

Focusing on "Leadership for Sustainable Development", ELDA 2016 will provide unique opportunities for meaningful interaction, exchange of knowledge, ideas for new-age development, application of cross-cultural technologies and importantly for learning leadership best practices across sectors.

Study tours

Our programmes are designed with a unique approach to leadership development by bringing together emerging leaders from different countries and regions across all economic sectors, for an on-field study tour experience. The dynamic programme helps build relationships, challenge paradigms, confront different perspectives and values, forge common ground and strengthen the participants’ ability to collaborate, integrate and think critically in their role as leaders.

Malacca

Delegates will have an opportunity to experience the rustic charm of Malacca, with its colonial buildings and heritage structures. During their visit, the delegates will not only learn about Malacca’s vision to become the second largest city in Malaysia, but will get to explore various organisations that are known for their sustainability initiatives in various sectors, to include tourism, health and safety, bio-technology etc.

Sabah

Sabah is known for its abundant wildlife, beaches and rainforests. During their visit to the northern part of Borneo, the delegates will gain rich insights and exposure to best leadership and sustainability practices in forestry, wild life, marine, and eco-tourism.

Federal Territory

Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya are indeed the cultural, financial and economic centres of Malaysia. During the study tour to the heart of Malaysia, delegates will visit local markets, innovation hubs, leading corporates, vocational training centres etc.

India

Known for its cultural diversity, India will showcase the Harvard Case Study - Six Sigma Business Model of Dabbawalas, a visit to the world’s largest washerman’ colony, community schools and village development initiatives etc.

Johor

Sharing the border with Singapore, Johor is known for its beautiful beaches and rainforests. Delegates will have an opportunity to witness interesting work and case studies in healthcare, logistics and agriculture.

Sarawak

Home to indigenous tribes and known for its dense rainforest and white sand beaches, Sarawak is unique. Delegates will have an opportunity to learn about Sarawak’s wildlife and nature reserves, cultural villages and longhouse villages in local communities etc.

Pahang

Delegates will have an opportunity to visit Malaysia’s third largest state, which is bordered to the north by Kelantan. The state of Pahang consists of the highlands, rainforests and coastal areas. During the visit, delegates will be able to witness best sustainability practices in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and education.
